Morning Prayer
Good and generous God, we wake this Wednesday morning into the warmth of your blessing. Not the kind that is earned or deserved, but the kind that simply flows from who you are — covering us like morning light before we have done a single thing to merit it. We receive it with open hands today. Before the busyness of the midweek sets in, we pause to acknowledge that we are already blessed — not because life is easy, but because you are with us, and your presence changes everything.
Blessing, we are learning, is not just something we receive — it is something we carry into the spaces we occupy. When we walk into a room, a conversation, a difficult meeting, or a quiet errand, we bring with us the overflow of what you have poured into us. So fill us this morning, Lord. Fill us with patience for the people who will test it, with kindness for those who are hurting, with generosity for those who need more than we feel we have. Let us be a blessing today because we have been so thoroughly blessed.
We ask for your covering over this Wednesday — over our families, our work, our decisions, and our rest. Go before us into every moment of this day. And where we forget that we are held, remind us gently. Your blessing does not pause when we stop paying attention. It continues, faithful and sure, all the way to the evening.
A Word of Reflection
Few words in all of Scripture feel as warm and as complete as the ancient blessing God gave to Moses for his people. It is a covering — tender, personal, and full of intention. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24–26). This is the blessing that has echoed across generations and still rings true this Wednesday morning. May we step into the day knowing we are kept, shone upon, and given peace.
