Morning Prayer — Generosity | Tuesday, May 19, 2026

Morning Prayer

Good morning, Lord. We wake to a new day, and the very fact that we are breathing is a reminder of your endless generosity toward us. Before we have done anything to deserve it, your mercies are already in place — the sun is rising, grace is waiting, and your goodness is going before us. We receive this day as a gift, and we open our hands wide, ready to give as freely as we have been given to.

Generosity, we know, begins in the heart before it ever reaches the hands. So today, Lord, we ask you to shape our hearts to look outward — to see the needs around us, to notice the person who could use an encouraging word, the neighbor who could use a meal, the stranger who simply needs to be seen. Help us to hold our time, our resources, and our attention loosely, trusting that when we give, you are faithful to replenish us in ways that go far beyond what we could ever measure.

May this day be marked by open-handed living — not from obligation, but from overflow, because we have tasted your goodness and want others to taste it too. Let every act of generosity we offer today be a quiet prayer, a testimony that says: we serve a God who gives without holding back. Walk with us, Lord, and make us more like you in the giving.

A Word of Reflection

The Bible holds a beautiful promise for those who live with open hands. “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25). Generosity is not a loss — it is a cycle of grace, where the act of giving brings its own kind of renewal. When we choose to be a source of blessing to others, we find ourselves standing in the overflow of God’s own provision. Today, let generosity be your posture in the big moments and the small ones alike, and watch how God honors a heart that gives freely.
