Morning Prayer

Good morning, faithful God. Thank You for the gift of a brand-new week and for the rest that carried us here. Before the calendar fills and the to-do lists start calling our names, we want to begin with You. We are grateful for the breath in our lungs, for the people we love, and for the quiet assurance that You have already gone ahead of us into every hour that lies ahead. Whatever this week holds, we know Your mercy is waiting for us there.

Lord, some of us are stepping into this Monday feeling strong and ready, while others of us feel worn before the day has even begun. Wherever we find ourselves, we ask You to renew our strength. When our energy runs low, be our source. When our patience wears thin, fill us again with Your gentleness. When the road ahead feels long, remind us that we do not walk it alone. Help us to wait on You rather than rushing ahead in our own power, and to trust that You know exactly what we need for each moment of the journey. Teach us that resting in You is not falling behind, but being made ready.

We lay this week before You, with its meetings and errands, its joys and its challenges. Lift our eyes above the weight of our responsibilities so that we can see the hope You have set before us. Let Your strength show up in the way we encourage a coworker, care for our families, and keep going when we would rather quit. May we mount up with fresh courage, run without growing weary, and walk without fainting. We step forward this morning with grateful hearts, trusting You to carry us. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

The prophet Isaiah offers this beautiful promise: “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31, KJV). Waiting on the Lord is not passive; it is an active trust that turns our hearts toward Him before we turn toward our tasks. When we begin the week by leaning on God instead of our own reserves, we draw from a strength that does not run dry. Whether this week calls us to soar, to run, or simply to keep walking, His renewal meets us at every pace. Let us move forward today confident that the One who calls us also sustains us.
