Evening Prayer — Protection | Monday, May 11, 2026

Evening Prayer

Lord, as the light of this day fades and the quiet of evening settles around us, we come to you with grateful hearts. You have been our shepherd through every hour — guiding our steps when the path felt uncertain, steadying us when the weight of the day pressed heavy. We did not walk alone today, and for that we are deeply thankful.

As we release this day into your hands, we ask that you surround us with your protection through the night. Let your peace cover our homes, our loved ones, and our hearts like a blanket of grace. We surrender every worry, every unresolved moment, every conversation left unfinished — trusting that you hold it all with perfect care.

Rest now feels like a gift, and we receive it with open hands. You are our shelter and our shepherd, and in your presence there is nothing we need to fear. Thank you for carrying us today. We close this evening in the safety of your love. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

There is something deeply comforting about the image of a shepherd — patient, present, and always watching over those in his care. When the psalmist wrote “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1), he was speaking from a place of hard-won trust. God’s protection is not just a shield against the dramatic — it is the quiet assurance that accompanies us through every ordinary moment. Tonight, may you rest in the knowledge that you are not wandering. You are known, watched over, and held.
