Morning Prayer
Lord, good morning — and what a morning it is to be alive in your world. As we open our eyes to this Thursday, we ask you to do something rare and wonderful: give us an eternal perspective on an ordinary day. It is easy to move through our hours as if this life is all there is — as if the pressures of today are the final word, as if what is unfinished or unresolved will simply swallow us whole. But you have placed eternity in our hearts, and this morning we want to feel the weight of that gift. We are not just temporal creatures. We are eternal ones, living inside a moment that will one day open into something far more beautiful than we can imagine.
That long-view changes everything about how we hold today. The frustrations that felt enormous yesterday look different in the light of eternity. The relationships we invest in, the faithfulness we choose, the love we extend to people around us — none of it disappears. It echoes forward into something permanent and good. So we come to this Thursday not as people scrambling to make the most of limited time, but as people who are already held in the hands of the One who makes everything beautiful in its time. We can be unhurried, unfrightened, and deeply at peace.
Anchor us today, Lord, in the things that last. Where we are tempted to chase what is fleeting, redirect us toward what is eternal. Let us love well, listen carefully, and move through this day with the quiet confidence of those who know how the story ends. You have made us for more than this moment — and that truth is enough to carry us through any Thursday.
A Word of Reflection
There is a longing in every human heart that the things of this world simply cannot satisfy — and that longing is itself a signpost pointing toward eternity. “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11. We were made for more than the momentary, and the restlessness we sometimes feel is not a flaw — it is a compass. Today, let the awareness of eternity not feel heavy but liberating: you are part of a story far larger than today’s chapter, written by a God who makes all things beautiful in his perfect time.
