Evening Prayer
As this day comes to a close, we think about the ways we fell short — a sharp word, a moment of impatience, a task left undone. Tonight, we don’t carry those moments forward with guilt. We simply release them, trusting that Your mercy meets us exactly where we are, not where we wish we’d been.
There’s a quiet relief in knowing today’s mistakes don’t disqualify us from tomorrow’s fresh start. We think of the ways we tried and fell short, and we choose to receive grace rather than dwell in self-criticism. Thank You for a compassion that doesn’t run out, even when we feel like we’ve used up our share of second chances.
As we close this day, let mercy be the last thing we feel before sleep — not judgment, not shame, just the quiet reassurance that tomorrow begins fresh. We rest tonight, grateful for a love that renews itself without fail, every single morning.
A Word of Reflection
Mercy isn’t something we exhaust by needing it too often — it renews itself daily, without limit. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22–23) reminds us that today’s shortcomings don’t define tomorrow’s start. Tonight, whatever weighed on us, we can release it fully, trusting that morning will bring mercy made new, just for us.
