Evening Prayer — Kindness | Thursday, August 13, 2026

Evening Prayer

As this day comes to a close, we think about the small exchanges that shaped it — moments we could have responded sharply but chose gentleness instead, and moments we wish we’d been kinder than we were. Tonight, we thank You for the kindness that showed up, and we ask forgiveness for the times we withheld it.

It’s easy to save our kindness for people who are easy to be kind to, and harder to extend it to those who tested our patience today. We think of those interactions now, releasing any lingering frustration, and choosing instead to remember that everyone we met was carrying something we couldn’t fully see. Thank You for the kindness shown to us today, even in small, unnoticed ways.

As we close this day, let kindness be the quiet thread we carry into rest — not judgment toward ourselves for where we fell short, but a soft grace that says tomorrow is another chance to be gentle. We rest tonight, grateful for a kindness that never runs dry.

A Word of Reflection

Kindness often costs us something small — patience, time, comfort — yet it reflects something much larger than the moment itself. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32) reminds us that kindness flows out of the grace we’ve already received. Tonight, whatever frustration lingers, we can release it and choose gentleness instead, trusting that kindness is never wasted.
