Morning Prayer
Good morning, Lord. Thank You for the gift of this new day and for the breath in our lungs as we wake to meet it. Thank You for the rest of the night and for the mercy that greets us fresh with the sunrise. Before the noise of the day begins, we want to sit with You for a moment, simply grateful that we do not face what lies ahead on our own. You have carried us through every season so far, and we trust that You will carry us through this one too.
Some of us are starting this morning already tired. The road has been long, the burdens have been heavy, and our reserves feel low before the first task is even underway. Others feel eager and ready, yet we know how quickly our energy can fade when the day grows complicated. Wherever we find ourselves, we ask You for strength for the journey. Not strength to prove ourselves or to do everything perfectly, but the steady, sustaining strength that comes only from leaning on You. Help us to wait on You rather than rushing ahead in our own power. When we feel like giving up, lift our eyes to remember that You are near and that Your grace is enough for every step.
Walk beside us today, Lord. Give us courage for the hard conversations, patience for the slow moments, and joy in the simple ones. Let us be a source of encouragement to the people we meet, especially those who are weary too. Renew our hearts as we go, and let every step we take be guided by Your love. We place this day into Your faithful hands, trusting that You will supply what we need, one moment at a time. In Your strong and gentle name we pray. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
The prophet Isaiah offers a beautiful promise for anyone who feels worn down: “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31, KJV). Waiting on the Lord is not idle passivity; it is choosing to depend on Him rather than on our own limited supply. The promise covers every pace of life, whether we are soaring, running, or simply putting one foot in front of the other. Some days the greatest victory is to keep walking without fainting, and God honors that too. As we begin this day, we can trust that His strength will meet us exactly where we need it.
