Evening Prayer — Mercy | Friday, May 15, 2026

Evening Prayer

Lord of every morning and every night, we come to you at the close of this day with grateful hearts. This Friday has carried its share of weight — the small frustrations, the lingering worries, the moments we wished we had responded with more grace. And yet, here we are, still held. Still breathing. Still loved. We rest this evening not in our own goodness, but in yours — in the mercy that has followed us faithfully through every hour.

We release the day into your hands. Whatever was left undone, whatever words we regret, whatever burdens we carried that were never ours to carry — we lay them down now at your feet. Your mercy is not a reward for a week well-lived; it is a gift freely given to those who simply come. And so we come, tired and honest, grateful to be met by a God who does not keep score.

As this week closes and the weekend opens before us, let your mercy cover every corner of our lives. Restore in us a spirit of peace — the kind that doesn’t depend on getting everything right. Let us sleep tonight knowing that your compassion does not run out, and that tomorrow’s grace is already waiting.

A Word of Reflection

There is a verse that has comforted countless weary souls through centuries of struggle, and it speaks directly to this moment. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23) What a promise to carry into the night — that mercy is not something we exhaust, but something God endlessly renews. No matter what this week looked like, you are not beyond the reach of that faithfulness. Let that truth settle over you like a warm blanket as you rest tonight.
