Evening Prayer
As this day draws to a close, we come before you with open hands and grateful hearts. You have been generous with us in ways we sometimes overlook — the breath in our lungs, the quiet moments of kindness we received, the provision that carried us through every hour. We acknowledge tonight that everything we have comes from you, and in that truth, we find deep and lasting rest.
Lord, we ask you to search our hearts as we lay this day down. Where we held too tightly — to our time, our resources, our attention — soften us. Where we gave freely, let it have been a reflection of your generous nature at work in us. Generosity is not only about what we give away; it is about the posture of our hearts, and tonight we surrender that posture to you.
Thank you for your limitless generosity toward us — for grace that never runs dry and mercy that meets us again tomorrow. We close this day trusting that as we sow generously, we rest in your abundance. May our sleep be peaceful, and may we wake tomorrow as people shaped more and more by your giving heart. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
Generosity is not a transaction — it is a transformation. When we live with open hands, we reflect the very character of God, who holds nothing back from those who love him. Scripture reminds us that A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25). There is a beautiful reciprocity woven into the act of giving: we do not give to receive, but God, in his grace, sees to it that the open-handed soul is never left empty. As you rest tonight, consider where generosity has touched your life — and let that remembrance shape the day ahead.
