Evening Prayer — Trust | Wednesday, July 1, 2026

Evening Prayer

Father, as we come to the end of this day, we want to be honest with You about the places where trust felt hard. There were moments today when we gripped things too tightly — our plans, our timelines, our need for things to go a certain way. We tried to hold outcomes in our own hands, and we felt the strain of it. Tonight, we lay all of that down. Not because everything is resolved, but because we are choosing, again, to trust the One who holds everything we cannot.

Trust is not always a feeling — sometimes it is simply a decision we make at the end of a long day. And so tonight, that is what we offer You: not certainty, not ease, but a quiet, deliberate choice to believe that You are good, that You are in control, and that nothing that happened today has caught You off guard. Whatever we surrendered today and whatever still remains unresolved, we place it all into Your hands now. You are more than capable of carrying what we are not meant to carry alone.

Let this evening be a rest for our souls, not just our bodies. Quiet the part of us that wants to keep rehearsing the day’s worries. Remind us that the same hands that hold the whole world are holding us tonight, and that is enough.

A Word of Reflection

There is a kind of trust that goes deeper than optimism — it is rooted not in how things look, but in who God is. Proverbs offers us a steady anchor: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). The instruction is wholehearted, not partial. Not “trust God when it makes sense” but all your heart, even when — especially when — you can’t see the full picture. Tonight, let that wholehearted trust be your resting place.
