Evening Prayer
As this week draws to a close, we think about the moments we felt most aware of You being near — a quiet reassurance during something stressful, a sense of peace we couldn’t quite explain. Tonight, we thank You for a presence that stayed constant through every part of this week, even the parts we barely noticed.
There were moments this week we felt distant or alone, when circumstances made it hard to sense You close by. We release that feeling now, remembering that Your nearness was never dependent on our awareness of it. Thank You for being present in the busy stretches, the quiet moments, and everything in between, even when we didn’t pause to notice.
As we close this week, let the truth of Your presence settle over us like something solid and sure. We rest tonight, and into the weekend ahead, trusting that we are never truly alone — not this week, not next week, not ever.
A Word of Reflection
God’s presence isn’t something we have to search for or earn — it’s already surrounding us, in every place and every moment. “If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there” (Psalm 139:8) reminds us that closeness with God isn’t conditional on our circumstances or our awareness. As this week ends, we can rest in that nearness, trusting that we were held every step of the way.
