Morning Prayer — Wisdom for Every Decision | Wednesday, September 30, 2026

Morning Prayer

Good morning, Lord. Thank You for waking us to a brand new day, for breath in our lungs and light through the window, and for the quiet assurance that You are already here before we have said a word. We come to You at the start of this Wednesday with open hands and willing hearts, grateful that we do not have to face what lies ahead on our own. Whatever this day holds, You hold it first, and that is where we want to begin. Before the emails, the errands, and the endless lists, we choose to turn our attention to You.

We know that today will bring choices, some small and some that feel much bigger than we are. There will be conversations where we are not sure what to say, decisions where the right path is not clear, and moments when our own understanding simply runs out. So we ask You, humbly and honestly, for wisdom. Not the kind that makes us look clever, but the kind that makes us kind, patient, and faithful. Help us to slow down before we speak, to listen before we answer, and to seek Your heart before we settle on our plans. When we feel pulled in many directions, steady us and show us what matters most.

Give wisdom, too, to the people we love and to those who lead and serve around us: parents making hard calls, teachers guiding young minds, workers facing difficult tasks, and anyone standing at a crossroads today. May we walk through every hour trusting that You delight to guide us, and may our choices bring honor to Your name and blessing to others. We step into this day leaning on You. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

The book of James offers one of Scripture’s most encouraging promises: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5, KJV). Notice that God does not scold us for needing help or make us earn His guidance first. He gives generously and without reproach, simply because we ask. That means every uncertain decision today is also an invitation to draw closer to Him. Wisdom begins not with having all the answers, but with humbly bringing our questions to the One who does. As we face this day’s choices, we can ask with confidence, knowing that our Father is glad to lead us.
