Morning Prayer
Faithful God, thank You for the gift of this new morning. Before the day fills with plans and conversations, we pause simply to be with You. Thank You for the rest of the night, for breath in our lungs, and for the quiet promise that You are already here, waiting to meet us. What a gift it is that we can speak with You at any moment, that You never grow tired of hearing from us, and that no concern is too small to bring before You. As this week draws toward its close, we thank You for carrying us through every day of it, and we trust You with whatever this one holds.
Today we ask You to make us steadfast in prayer. So often we turn to You only in a crisis, then drift back into managing life on our own. Teach us instead to keep the conversation open all day long. Let our first thoughts turn toward You, and let our hearts return to You in the ordinary moments: on the drive to work, in the line at the store, in the pause before a hard conversation. When answers seem slow, give us patience to keep asking and trusting. When we feel joyful, remind us to stop and thank You. When we feel weak, let prayer be the place where we find our strength again.
We lift up the people on our hearts this morning: those who are hurting, those who are waiting, and those who do not yet know how deeply You love them. Hear our prayers for them, and help us stay faithful in praying even when we see no change. Fill this day with Your presence, and let every hour become an opportunity to walk a little closer with You. We place it all in Your hands with hope and gladness. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.” (Romans 12:12, KJV) Paul places prayer alongside hope and patience, as though the three belong together and strengthen one another. To continue “instant” in prayer means to remain ready and persistent, keeping our hearts turned toward God through every kind of day. Steadfast prayer is less about finding the perfect words and more about staying near to the One who always listens. It sustains our hope when circumstances are uncertain and steadies our patience when trials linger. As we begin this day, we can trust that every whispered prayer is heard, and that faithfulness in prayer slowly shapes us into people of deeper faith.
