Morning Prayer — Kindness That Reflects His Heart | Wednesday, October 21, 2026

Morning Prayer

Good morning, loving God. Thank You for the gift of waking up to a new day, for breath in our lungs and light coming through the window. Before the busyness begins, we want to pause with You and receive this morning as a fresh start. You have been so patient and so kind to us, far kinder than we deserve, and we are grateful. Let that kindness be the first thing we remember today, and let it shape everything that follows. Whatever this day brings, we want to meet it knowing we are deeply loved by You.

We ask that You would make us people whose kindness reflects Your heart. Give us eyes to notice the coworker who seems weary, the neighbor who could use a friendly word, the family member who needs patience more than correction. Soften the places in us that have grown hard or hurried. When someone tests our patience, help us respond with gentleness. When we are tempted to hold on to an old hurt, remind us how fully You have forgiven us, and give us the grace to forgive in turn. Small kindnesses may seem ordinary, but in Your hands they can become signs of Your love in a world that badly needs to see it.

Fill us with Your Spirit so that our kindness flows not from obligation but from the overflow of what You have poured into us. Guard our words, guide our steps, and open our hands to give generously of our time, our attention, and our care. As we move through this day, may those we meet sense something of Your tenderness in the way we treat them. We place this morning, and all that it holds, into Your faithful hands. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32, KJV) Paul roots our kindness in something deeper than good manners: it flows from the mercy we ourselves have received. Because God has been tenderhearted toward us, we can be tenderhearted toward others, even when it costs us something. Forgiveness and kindness are not signs of weakness but reflections of His character shining through ordinary people. Today, each gentle word and patient act becomes a way of showing others the same grace that first found us. Let us look for one quiet opportunity to pass that grace along before the day is done.
