Morning Prayer

Good morning, faithful God. We wake today with gratitude for the gift of a new morning—for breath in our lungs, light through the window, and mercies that are fresh again. Thank You for the rest of last night and for the strength You have given us to rise and begin again. Before the day begins to rush at us, we want to sit with You for a moment and simply remember that You are here. You were here through the night, and You will be here through every hour ahead.

So many of us are waiting on something. We are waiting for answers to prayers we have prayed for a long time, for doors to open, for healing to come, for relationships to mend, for clarity about the road ahead. Waiting can feel heavy, and some days it is tempting to wonder whether You have heard us at all. This morning we choose to trust that You have. Teach us to wait with hope instead of frustration, and with faith instead of fear. Help us believe that Your timing is never late, even when it is not our timing, and that You are working in ways we cannot yet see.

Give us patience for the small waits of today, too—the traffic, the long lines, the conversations that take longer than planned. Let each pause become a quiet reminder to lean on You. Where we are tempted to rush ahead of You, slow our steps and steady our hearts. Fill the spaces of our waiting with Your presence, so that even the in-between becomes holy ground. We place our plans, our hopes, and our hearts in Your hands, confident that what You are preparing is good. We pray this in the name of Jesus, who is always right on time. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

Waiting is rarely easy, but Scripture reminds us that it is never wasted when our hope is in God. The prophet writes, “The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD” (Lamentations 3:25–26, KJV). These words were written in a season of deep sorrow, yet they point to a goodness that does not depend on circumstances. Quiet waiting is not passive; it is an active trust that God is faithful even before we see the answer. As we step into this day, may we wait with expectant hearts, knowing that the One who holds our future is good.
