Evening Prayer
As this day comes to its close, we think back on the moments we needed somewhere safe to land — a hard conversation, a decision that felt heavier than expected, a stretch of the day where we simply felt unsteady. In each of those moments, You were the place we could return to, even when we didn’t consciously realize it. Tonight, we thank You for being that steady ground beneath us.
We didn’t have to face today entirely on our own strength, and we’re grateful for that. There’s a quiet relief in knowing that our security was never really dependent on how well we handled things — it rested in You all along. As we let this day go, we release any lingering tension from trying to hold everything together by ourselves.
We close tonight resting in the shelter You’ve always offered — not because we earned it, but because it’s who You are. Let this refuge carry into our sleep, into our dreams, into whatever tomorrow brings. We are safe, we are held, and we are grateful.
A Word of Reflection
A true refuge isn’t something we build for ourselves — it’s something we’re invited into. “God is our refuge and strength” (Psalm 46:1) reminds us that shelter and strength aren’t separate gifts; they come together in Him. Tonight, as we set down whatever felt unsteady today, we can rest in the knowledge that we were never without protection. Whatever tomorrow holds, that same refuge will still be there, unmoved and unshaken.
