Evening Prayer
As this day settles into night, we think about all the ways we tried to steer things ourselves — the plans we clung to, the outcomes we worked so hard to control. Tonight, we set those down. We give You what we couldn’t manage, what we couldn’t fix, what we couldn’t fully understand. We don’t have to carry any of it forward.
There’s a quiet exhale that comes when we finally stop wrestling for control. We think of the moments today when we resisted, when we wanted our way instead of trusting Yours, and we ask for the grace to let go fully now. Help us to trust that surrendering isn’t losing — it’s placing everything into hands far more capable than our own.
As we close this day, we release our grip on tomorrow too. We don’t know exactly what it holds, but we trust that You do. Let our surrender tonight be complete, so that we rest not in worry, but in peace — knowing we’ve handed everything, gently and fully, to You.
A Word of Reflection
There is nothing weak about surrender — it is one of the bravest choices we can make. “Not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42) reminds us that even in the hardest moments, yielding to God brings a peace that fighting for control never could. Tonight, whatever we’ve been holding too tightly, we can lay it down and trust that we are not letting go of something good — we’re exchanging our limited plans for something far wiser and far more secure.
