Evening Prayer
As this day comes to a close, we think about the effort it took just to keep going — the tasks that dragged on longer than expected, the moments we wanted to quit but didn’t. Tonight, we thank You for the strength that carried us through, even when it felt like we were running on empty.
There’s a particular kind of tiredness that comes from staying faithful through something hard, and we feel it now. We didn’t finish everything today, and some things still feel unresolved. But we recognize that perseverance was never about finishing perfectly — it was about not giving up. Thank You for meeting us in the exhaustion and giving us just enough strength for each step we needed to take.
As we release this day, we ask for rest that restores us for tomorrow’s stretch of the race. Let our weariness tonight be met with peace, knowing that showing up, even imperfectly, was enough. We trust that You saw every effort we made, and we rest now in that quiet faithfulness.
A Word of Reflection
Perseverance is rarely glamorous — it’s showing up again after a hard day, even when we’re tired. “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1) reminds us that endurance matters more than perfection. Tonight, whatever felt unfinished or difficult, we can rest knowing that faithfulness through the hard middle is itself a kind of victory. Tomorrow is another step in the race, and we don’t have to run it alone.
