Evening Prayer
As this week comes to a close, we think about how often we complicated things that didn’t need to be complicated: overthinking decisions, worrying about outcomes far beyond today. Tonight, we release that unnecessary weight and simply rest in what today actually required, nothing more.
There’s a relief in recognizing that not every concern needed our full attention this week. We carried some worries that weren’t ours to carry yet, borrowing tomorrow’s uncertainty before it arrived. We set that down now, trusting that each day truly does have enough of its own, without needing us to manage the future in advance.
As we close this week, let simplicity guide us into rest, not complicated by what’s ahead, but at peace with what’s already been. We trust that You will meet us with exactly what we need, when we need it, without requiring us to solve everything in advance.
A Word of Reflection
Simplicity isn’t about ignoring responsibility. It’s about releasing the weight of concerns that don’t belong to today. “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34) reminds us that peace comes from staying present rather than carrying every future concern at once. As this week ends, we can rest simply, trusting that today was enough, and tomorrow will be too.
