Morning Prayer — Rooted in His Love | Wednesday, October 14, 2026

Morning Prayer

Loving God, thank You for the gift of this new morning. Before the day fills with noise and plans, we pause to receive it from Your hand. You woke us with fresh breath and fresh mercy, and we do not take either for granted. Whatever this day holds, we want to begin it here, resting in the truth that we are deeply and completely loved by You. Thank You for the people You have placed around us, for the work before us, and for the quiet assurance that we never face a single hour alone.

So often we try to build our lives on shifting ground. We look for security in our accomplishments, in the approval of others, or in how smoothly everything seems to be going. But when the winds come, those things cannot hold us. Today, we ask You to root us in Your love instead. Let it sink deep beneath the surface of our feelings and circumstances, so that we stand firm even when life feels uncertain. Help us remember that Your love is not something we earn by a good day or lose by a hard one. It is the soil we grow in, the ground that holds us fast, and the reason we can face today with hope.

As we go out into our homes, workplaces, and communities, let that love overflow from us to others. Give us patience with the people who test us, gentleness with those who are hurting, and generosity toward those in need. When we feel dry or weary, draw us back to the source. May everyone we meet today catch a glimpse of how wide and deep Your love really is. We offer You this day with open hearts. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

The apostle Paul prayed that believers would be “rooted and grounded in love,” and “able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height” (Ephesians 3:17–18, KJV). Roots do their most important work out of sight, quietly drawing nourishment and anchoring a tree against the storm. In the same way, a heart rooted in God’s love may not always look different on the surface, but it holds steady when pressures rise. Paul’s words remind us that this love is bigger than we can measure, stretching in every direction around our lives. As we step into this day, let us rest in that love rather than strive for it, and let it shape how we treat everyone we meet.
