Morning Prayer
Good and gracious God, thank You for the gift of this Friday morning. Thank You for breath in our lungs, for light breaking through the window, and for the quiet promise that Your mercies have been made new once again. Before the emails, the errands, and the demands of the day begin to pull at us, we pause here with You. We want to start this day in the right place, with our eyes lifted and our hearts open to whatever You have prepared.
We admit that waiting is hard for us. Many of us are holding prayers we have prayed for a long time: a door we hope will open, a relationship we long to see mended, a healing we are still waiting to receive, a direction that has not yet become clear. Sometimes we grow impatient and try to force what is not ready. Sometimes we grow discouraged and wonder if You have forgotten. This morning, we ask You to steady us. Help us trust that Your timing is not a delay but a design, and that You are weaving together details we cannot yet see. Give us patience that is not passive but hopeful, the kind that keeps showing up, keeps praying, and keeps believing.
Today, help us notice the beauty already present in this season, even if it is not the season we would have chosen. Let us be faithful with what is in front of us and gentle with ourselves and others as we wait. Where we are rushing, slow us down. Where we are stalled by fear, move us forward. As we go into this day, may our confidence rest not in how quickly things change, but in how completely You can be trusted. We place our hopes, our plans, and our timelines in Your hands, and we walk into this morning believing You are good. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
Scripture offers a beautiful assurance for anyone who is waiting: “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11, KJV). These words do not promise that everything will happen on our schedule, but they do promise that God is at work making beauty out of every season. What feels like a pause to us may be a careful preparation in His hands. When we pray for patience, we are really asking for eyes to see that His timing is wise and His purposes are kind. Today, we can loosen our grip on the clock and trust the One who holds every moment, knowing that nothing entrusted to Him is ever wasted.
