Evening Prayer
As the day draws to a close and the quiet of evening settles around us, we come before you with grateful hearts. The hours have been full — full of decisions, conversations, and moments that called us to think carefully and choose wisely. Tonight, we release all of it into your hands, trusting that where our understanding fell short, your wisdom filled the gap.
There were places today, Lord, where we leaned on our own thinking and felt the weight of it. We thank you that we are never left to navigate this life alone. Your wisdom is not distant or difficult to reach — it is a gift freely given to all who ask. As we close our eyes tonight, we ask that you continue to guide our minds, even in our rest, ordering our thoughts and preparing us for what tomorrow holds.
Let this evening be a gentle surrender — a laying down of questions we could not answer and burdens we were not meant to carry. We trust that you know every path before us. Grant us peace in what we do not yet understand, and fill us with the quiet confidence that your wisdom is always at work on our behalf.
A Word of Reflection
Wisdom is not something we have to manufacture on our own — it is something we receive. Scripture reminds us gently and generously: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” — James 1:5. What a remarkable promise. There are no conditions on our worthiness, no prerequisites for asking. God simply gives. As you rest tonight, let this verse be a quiet comfort — the wisest thing you can do is bring your questions to the One who holds all the answers.
