Morning Prayer — Mercy | Friday, May 15, 2026

Morning Prayer

Good and gracious God, we greet this new morning with gratitude on our lips and wonder in our hearts. You have brought us through the night and placed a fresh day before us — a gift we do not take lightly. Before the world asks anything of us, before the noise begins, we pause to acknowledge something beautiful: Your mercies are new every morning. We did not have to earn our way into this day. You simply gave it to us, as You always do, out of the overflow of Your endless love.

Mercy is the word that makes this morning possible. It is the reason we rise without the weight of yesterday clinging to our shoulders. Whatever we carried into sleep last night — the regrets, the shortcomings, the moments we wish we could take back — You have covered them. Your mercy does not keep a tally. It does not remind us of every failure. It simply begins again, the way the morning does, quietly and without fanfare, full of light and possibility.

We step into this Friday with grateful hearts, knowing that we are held by a God whose compassion never runs dry. Help us today to receive Your mercy fully, to extend it freely to those around us, and to walk through this day as people who know they are loved without condition. Thank You for this morning, for this mercy, for this life. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

There is something profoundly comforting about mercy that renews itself. The prophet Jeremiah, writing in a season of grief and devastation, found reason for hope in this very truth: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22–23). Every morning is, in a sense, a mercy made visible — another chance, another beginning, another invitation into God’s grace. We do not have to wait to be worthy of it. It arrives before we are even fully awake. Carry that truth with you today.
