Morning Prayer
Good morning, Lord. We open our eyes to a new day and our hearts overflow with gratitude for the gift of it — the light coming through the window, the breath in our lungs, and the faces of those you have placed in our lives. This morning, we lift up our families to you: the ones who share our tables, our histories, our names, and our deepest memories. What a grace it is to belong to one another through your design.
We know that family can be both a source of deep joy and a place where patience is tested and grace is most needed. So this morning we ask for more of you in every relationship we carry. Where there is distance, draw us closer. Where there are old wounds, bring your gentle healing. Where there is love, let it grow deeper and more generous with every passing day. You are the God who knits hearts together, and we trust that you are faithfully at work in every family that calls upon your name.
As we step into this Tuesday, may we carry our families not as a burden but as a blessing. May we listen more, assume less, and love freely. Let our homes be places where your presence is felt — in the laughter, in the hard conversations, and in the quiet moments of simply being together. We commit this day, and all who belong to us, into your faithful hands. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
There is something holy about the word “family” — it speaks of covenant, of belonging, of being deeply known. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). Joshua spoke these words not from a place of perfection, but from a place of resolve — a decision made in the presence of God to orient his whole household around what matters most. That same invitation stands before us today. Whether our families look the way we hoped or carry more complexity than we expected, we can choose, each morning, to bring them before God and declare: we belong to you. That posture of surrender and dedication is where family is truly strengthened.
