Morning Prayer
Father, we wake into this Wednesday morning with grateful hearts, aware that the simple gift of a new day is itself an act of your grace toward us. Before the busyness of the hours ahead takes hold, we take a moment to breathe you in — to remember that we are not walking this life alone. Today we bring to you the friendships you have placed in our lives: the ones who have sat with us in hard seasons, laughed with us in joyful ones, and stayed when it would have been easier to go.
There is something so beautifully intentional about the way you place people in our paths. True friendship is one of your most generous gifts — a mirror of your own faithful, unwavering love for us. We pray this morning for the friends we treasure: that you would bless them richly, strengthen them in whatever they are carrying today, and let them feel the warmth of your presence as clearly as we hope they have felt ours. And where friendships have grown distant or been lost, we trust you to bring the right people alongside us in your perfect timing.
As we step into this day, make us the kind of friends worth having — loyal, present, slow to judge, and quick to encourage. Let our words build up, our presence be a comfort, and our loyalty reflect the steadfast love you have so freely shown us. We commit this Wednesday and all its relationships to you. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
Friendship is one of the places where God’s character becomes most visible in human form. “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity” (Proverbs 17:17). This verse captures something profound — that true friendship is not conditional on comfort or convenience, but rooted in a love that holds steady through every season. When we show up faithfully for those around us, we are embodying the very nature of the God who never leaves or forsakes. Today, let this verse be both an encouragement and a gentle challenge: to receive the love of those who have stood by you, and to be that same steady presence for someone else.
