Morning Prayer — Sacrifice | Friday, June 5, 2026

Morning Prayer

Gracious and loving God, we wake this Friday morning carrying a weight that is not entirely our own. It belongs, in the deepest sense, to you — the weight of a love so complete that it was willing to be poured out entirely. Before we step into this day, we pause to acknowledge what it cost for us to be here, in relationship with you, unafraid and unashamed. We do not take that lightly this morning.

There is something about meditating on sacrifice that reorders our priorities. When we remember what Jesus laid down for us, the things we hold too tightly begin to loosen. The grudges we carry feel heavier than they’re worth. The ambitions we chase in our own strength feel smaller in light of a love that willingly gave everything. So we come to you this morning with open hands — asking you to shape what we pursue and how we love the people around us today.

Let this Friday be marked by generosity of spirit, by a willingness to give more than we take, and by a love that reflects, even imperfectly, the one who first loved us. We are grateful beyond words for the sacrifice that made this morning — and every morning — possible.

A Word of Reflection

The measure of love, according to Jesus, is found not in sentiment but in sacrifice. He gave us a standard that changes everything. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). This verse is not simply a description of the cross — it is an invitation into a way of living. As we move through this day, may we carry that standard with us, looking for small and ordinary ways to lay something down for the sake of someone else.
