Evening Prayer — Endurance | Wednesday, June 11, 2026

Evening Prayer

God of the long road, as this Wednesday evening settles in, we come to you a little worn but still standing. Endurance is not a glamorous thing — it rarely makes for a dramatic story in the moment. It is the quiet, steady choice to keep going when the middle of the week feels heavy, when the finish line is not yet in sight, and when the energy we started with has been spent. And yet here we are. We made it through another day, and that is no small thing.

We think tonight of all the ways you have sustained us — not just today but across the long stretches of our lives. The seasons we were certain we could not survive. The losses that felt too large to carry. The ordinary weeks that asked more of us than we expected. You were present in every one of them, not always removing the weight but always providing what we needed to bear it. That faithfulness is not lost on us tonight. We are grateful for a God who does not abandon us in the middle.

As we rest this evening, renew our strength for what is still ahead. Remind us that endurance is not the same as straining — it is trusting. It is placing one foot in front of the other because we believe the one who called us is faithful to complete what he began. We do not have to see the whole path tonight. We only need to rest in the one who does.

A Word of Reflection

There is a particular kind of courage in simply continuing. Not every act of faith looks bold — some of the most faithful things we do are quiet and unseen, simply refusing to give up. Jesus spoke plainly about this kind of staying power: “But the one who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13). This is not a word of pressure — it is a word of promise. Salvation belongs to those who hold on. And tonight, we hold on to the one who is already holding us.
