Morning Prayer — Silence | Friday, June 13, 2026

Morning Prayer

Lord, before the noise of the day begins, we find you here — in the still, unhurried space of early morning. Thank you for this moment before the world rushes in, this pocket of quiet that feels like a gift just for us. We do not always know how to be still, but this morning we are trying. We release the urge to fill every second with words, plans, or worry, and instead we simply come to be with you — to listen, to rest, to receive whatever you have for us today.

In a world that rewards the loud and the constant and the always-on, silence can feel countercultural, even uncomfortable. But you have always spoken in the still, small places. You are not competing with the noise around us — you are waiting, gently, on the other side of it. This morning we choose to quiet our own inner noise too: the anxious thoughts, the rehearsed conversations, the mental to-do lists. We bring them to you and ask you to hold them so our hands and hearts are free to simply receive your peace.

Speak to us today in the ways only you can — through scripture, through a moment of sudden clarity, through the kindness of another person, through the beauty of something ordinary seen with fresh eyes. We are listening, Lord. Not perfectly, not without distraction, but genuinely and willingly. Let this Friday be marked by a quietness of spirit that carries us through every hour. Be still, our souls — and know that he is God.

A Word of Reflection

In one of the most reassuring verses in all of Scripture, God does not ask us to strive or perform — he simply calls us to be still. “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10. Silence before the Lord is not emptiness; it is a posture of trust that says: you are enough, you are in control, and I do not need to fill this space with my own striving. In the quiet, we often hear what the noise has been drowning out — his presence, his peace, his gentle voice reminding us who we are and whose we are. Give yourself the gift of stillness today.
