Evening Prayer
As this day comes to an end, we think about the moments we were asked to follow rather than lead — a nudge to be patient, a prompting to hold our tongue, a quiet sense that our own way wasn’t the best way. Tonight, we thank You for the times we listened, and we ask forgiveness for the times we resisted.
Obedience often shows up in small, unnoticed choices rather than dramatic ones, and we recognize that now. There were moments today we could have followed more closely, listened more carefully, trusted more fully instead of leaning on our own preferences. We release any stubbornness we carried and ask for softer, more willing hearts as we move forward.
As we close this day, let obedience become less of a struggle and more of a quiet trust — a natural response to knowing You only ever lead us somewhere good. We rest tonight, grateful for the moments we followed well, and hopeful for greater willingness tomorrow.
A Word of Reflection
Obedience isn’t about perfection — it’s about a heart willing to keep listening and responding. “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it” (Luke 11:28) reminds us that blessing comes not from flawless compliance, but from a consistent, humble willingness to follow. Tonight, whatever we resisted today, we can release it and choose renewed openness, trusting that God’s way always leads somewhere good.
