Evening Prayer
As this day comes to a close, we think about how much of it was spent divided — attention pulled in a dozen directions, priorities competing for space in our hearts. Tonight, we return to what matters most, choosing to refocus our devotion on You before we rest.
There were moments today we let distractions crowd out our awareness of Your presence. We release that scattered focus now, coming back to the simple truth that loving You isn’t meant to be one priority among many — it’s the foundation everything else rests on. Thank You for patiently waiting as we return, again and again, to what matters most.
As we close this day, let devotion settle into quiet gratitude rather than guilt over an imperfect focus. We rest tonight, trusting that tomorrow offers another chance to love You more fully, one small return at a time.
A Word of Reflection
Devotion isn’t measured by flawless attention — it’s shown in how consistently we return our hearts to what matters most. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37) reminds us that wholehearted love is a continual choice, not a one-time achievement. Tonight, whatever pulled at our attention today, we can rest knowing that returning to God, even imperfectly, is itself an act of devotion.
