Morning Prayer — Seeking Him First | Monday, November 2, 2026

Morning Prayer

Good morning, Lord. Thank You for the gift of a brand-new week and for the rest that carried us here. Before the emails, the errands, and the long list of things waiting for our attention, we want to begin with You. You have given us breath, another sunrise, and Your faithful presence, and we do not take any of it for granted. As we step into this Monday, we ask You to set the order of our hearts so that our first thoughts, our first words, and our first longings are turned toward You.

We confess how easily we chase everything else first. We reach for security in our plans, our savings, and our schedules, and we try to manage our worries by holding them tighter. Yet You gently remind us that a life built around You is the life that holds together. Teach us to seek Your kingdom in the ordinary moments of this day: in how we greet a coworker, how we answer a hard question, how we spend the minutes no one else sees. Help us choose Your ways over our own convenience, and let our priorities reflect the value we place on knowing You.

Where we feel anxious about what we lack, give us trust that You already know what we need. Where we feel pulled in many directions, give us a single, settled focus on You. Bless the people we will meet this week, and make us generous with patience, kindness, and encouragement. Let our homes, our workplaces, and our conversations be places where Your goodness is easy to see. We place this whole week in Your hands, believing that as we seek You first, You will faithfully supply everything else in Your perfect time. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

Jesus offered a simple and freeing promise: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33, KJV). He spoke these words to people anxious about food, clothing, and tomorrow, which are the very same concerns that crowd into our Monday mornings. Seeking Him first is not about ignoring our responsibilities, but about letting Him set their place in our lives. When God is at the center, everything else finds its proper size, and our worries lose their grip. This week, may we start each day by turning toward Him before anything else, trusting that the One who feeds the birds and clothes the lilies will care for us too.
