Evening Prayer
Compassionate God, as this day closes we come to you with the full weight of it — the hard conversations, the unanswered questions, the moments we felt the ache of something missing. You were not absent from any of it. Even in the places that felt hollow, you were quietly present, closer than we realized. We look back now and find your fingerprints in places we missed the first time.
Tonight, wrap us in a peace that is deeper than our understanding. Let the troubles of the day lose their grip as we rest. Remind us that we are held — not just managing, not just surviving, but genuinely held by hands that do not let go. We give you the heaviness of this day, and we receive from you the rest that only you can give. That is enough to close our eyes on.
A Word of Reflection
There is something profound about being comforted by someone who has known suffering themselves. God does not offer us comfort from a distance — it comes through a Savior who entered fully into human pain. “God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1:4). By evening, we can look back and see where that comfort showed up — often quietly, often through others. Rest tonight in the knowledge that you were not alone today, and you will not be alone tomorrow.
