Morning Prayer
Good and faithful God, we greet this new morning with thankful hearts. Thank You for the gift of rest, for the breath in our lungs, and for the fresh start that comes with every sunrise. Before the day’s demands begin to call our names, we pause to turn our attention toward You. You already know what this day holds for us: the plans we have made, the surprises we cannot foresee, and the challenges that may ask more of us than we feel ready to give. We are grateful that we do not walk into any of it alone.
Today we ask for courage to walk in faith. Some of us are facing decisions that feel too big, conversations we have been avoiding, or new beginnings that stir up both excitement and fear. Give us the boldness to take the next faithful step, even when we cannot see the whole path ahead. When our hearts begin to race with worry, remind us that courage is not the absence of fear but the choice to trust You in the middle of it. Help us to speak the truth with kindness, to stand firm in what is right, and to step forward where You are leading rather than shrinking back. Let our courage be quiet and steady, rooted not in our own abilities but in Your unchanging presence with us.
We also pray for those around us who need encouragement today. Make us people who strengthen others, who notice the friend who is struggling and offer a word of hope at just the right moment. Fill our homes, our workplaces, and our communities with Your peace. As we go about our ordinary tasks, may we sense You walking beside us, and may every step we take be a small act of trust in Your goodness. We give You this day and all that it holds, confident that You will meet us in it. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9, KJV) These words were spoken to Joshua as he stood on the edge of an unknown land, carrying a responsibility far greater than himself. The command to be courageous did not come with a promise that the road would be easy, but with a promise that God would be present every step of the way. That same promise belongs to us this morning. Whatever lies ahead today, we can face it with courage because we are never walking alone. Our strength does not come from knowing every outcome, but from knowing the One who goes with us wherever we go.
