Morning Prayer
Good morning, Lord. We greet this new day with thankful hearts, grateful for the breath in our lungs, the light coming through our windows, and the quiet gift of another chance to walk with You. Before the schedules fill up and the to-do lists start calling our names, we want to pause here with You first. Thank You for meeting us in this moment, just as we are, and for loving us before we have accomplished a single thing today. Whatever yesterday held, we leave it behind and step into these fresh hours with open, expectant hearts, trusting that You have already gone ahead of us.
We ask that You fill this day with the joy that only comes from Your presence. Not a joy that depends on everything going smoothly, but a deep and steady gladness rooted in knowing that You are near. When the morning feels rushed, remind us that You are with us in the hurry. When conversations grow difficult, let Your joy soften our words and keep our hearts kind. When we feel tired or discouraged, lift our eyes to see the good You are already doing around us, in the laughter of a friend, the beauty of creation, and the countless small mercies we so often overlook.
Help us carry that joy into every place we go today. Let it spill over into our homes, our workplaces, and our communities, so that others might catch a glimpse of Your goodness through us. Teach us to delight in You more than in our plans, and to trust that the path You lead us on is the path of life. We open our hands and our hearts to this day, ready to receive whatever You bring and eager to walk it with You. Amen.
A Word of Reflection
David prayed, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalm 16:11, KJV) This verse reminds us that true joy is not something we chase down on our own; it is found by drawing close to God. Circumstances will rise and fall throughout our days, but His presence remains constant, and so does the joy He offers. As we begin this morning, we can choose to start where David did, trusting that God is showing us the way forward. When we stay near to Him, even ordinary moments can become full of quiet gladness.
