Evening Prayer — Courage to Walk in Faith | Tuesday, October 6, 2026

Evening Prayer

Faithful God, as the light fades and the noise of this day grows quiet, we come to rest in Your presence. We thank You for walking beside us through every hour, through the conversations we were nervous to begin, the tasks that felt larger than our strength, and the small moments when we chose to trust You instead of our fears. This morning we asked for courage, and You did not leave us to find it on our own. Even where we stumbled or hesitated, You were patient with us, and Your hand held ours more firmly than we held Yours. Thank You for every person who encouraged us along the way and for every quiet nudge of Your Spirit that kept us moving forward in faith.

Now we hand this day back to You. We lay down the worries that followed us home, the decisions still unmade, and the questions we could not answer. We confess that courage does not always look like bold steps; sometimes it looks like waiting, like letting go, like trusting You with what we cannot fix tonight. So we choose that kind of courage now. We release our need to control tomorrow and place it in Your keeping, believing that the One who guided us today will be just as faithful when the sun rises again. Steady our hearts as we sleep, and let Your peace settle over our homes, our families, and everyone we love.

Lord, thank You that faith is not a road we walk alone. Renew our strength while we rest, quiet every anxious thought, and let us wake with hearts ready to follow You once more. We rest in Your love tonight, confident that You are with us in the dark just as surely as You were with us in the light. Amen.

A Word of Reflection

The psalmist writes, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” (Psalm 27:14, KJV) It is striking that courage and waiting appear side by side in this verse. We often think of bravery as action, yet some of the most courageous faith happens when we stop striving and simply trust. Evening is a natural invitation to that kind of waiting, as we set down what we carried and let God strengthen what feels weary within us. Tonight, may we rest in the assurance that waiting on Him is never wasted, and that He is quietly preparing our hearts for whatever tomorrow holds.
